Wah, He Must Be Damn Rich ….

Yesterday, I was invited to one of the students’ house-warming. It’s a mini gathering.

It is a very nice house. Big space, all kids have their own rooms.

Two spacious halls, kids got plenty of space to run and scream.

A huge public park opposite, with lots of spaces to run, cycle, play sand, swings and nice benches.

I saw parents sitting on the benches, arms across the partner’s shoulders as if courtship couples (minus the passionate intensity) while watching the young kids playing.

I saw their smiles. I felt their love and happiness.

I walked into my student’s house, gates wide open and in it parked a nice Porsche convertible, 911.

Suddenly, it dawned onto me.

Not so many years ago, if I were to walk past a house like this, I would tell myself that this family must be super rich, with wealth handed down from Ah Gong. And the average Singaporeans will not have a chance to taste these luxuries.

But, here, this is definitely not the case. I know this student. I know his wife, I know his parents, I know his employers …. I know his background.

He was an average executive working in a large organisation. He worked very hard for the company.

After we got together, we worked on ways to make his money worked very hard.

Within a year, the multiple streams of passive income enabled his wife to quit her job to take care of the toddlers. No more quarrels over annual leave. No more blackface colleagues or bosses. No more emails into the midnight.

Around a year later, he fully retired himself, before hitting 40.

Together, we flew around the world to learn more on financial literacy from Top Guru. (side note : learning is more fun in a group)

As financial knowledge grows, our wealth grows as we put our new strategies into action.

We copied the new strategies, and we gotten similar results to our Guru. So simple.

Within a short span of three years, he was able to retire himself and his wife. They are able to have plenty of time with the kids.

With the excess free time and understanding that “money is just an idea”, they invested in businesses and more properties.

These days, I get to witness their latest lifestyles. And having known them for some years, I also know about their lifestyles as full-time employees, being parents to young kids, and being filial children to their aging parents.

I am so happy watching their growth. Like parents watching our children grow into beautiful adults. 

It beats watching Korean drama.

I know I have live my life well. I know I am serving the Universe.

I know there are more work to do.

Yet there is one thing I do not know…. Three years from now, where will all of us be ?

I have a bigger plan. One that many will laugh at me, calling me stupid… the same reaction I received in the past… so now, I know I am on the right track. Being laughed at most ppl is a sure-sign of being on the right-track.

This morning, another average couple has announced their move to a landed pty. Their life has gone thru huge positive changes too. I look forward to be invited to their house warming. This couple never stop amazing me. And they are very young, in their early 30s. Wife already retired. Husband soon. Daughter very happy.

Life does not have to hard…. when you know how to be leverage-smart.
