Experience important ??
I like to share with you an interesting lesson with my Mentor before this weekend.
As many of you know, I am being coached by many top guru around the world.
I always enjoy my sessions with them. There are always lightbulb moments.
In one of the sessions recently, we talked about the importance of **Experience** in life.
He brought up this really good example and I wanted to share with you today.
The Importance of Experience.
Why is Experience important when seeking a Teacher?
He cited an interesting example …. Swimming.
Can you learn how to swim in your condo pool and then jump into the sea and swim well?
No? because the sea water has many other dynamic elements like current, water temperature, debris, boats, jellyfish … etc.
When I swim in the condo pool (grateful to Josephine Lee), I can nearly tune off my mind to not think of anything else other than my breathing and my strokes. I can’t do this in the sea.
Recently, thanks to Jeffrey Yeoh & family for bringing me out to the sea, I was reminded of the difficulty to swim in the sea.
It took me a lot of efforts to swim a small distance in the sea. More energy than I spent making few laps in the condo pool.
And the recent sightings of jelly fish around our waters made my senses worked very hard to avoid contacting these potentially deadly creatures.
Get the idea? Sea vs Pool? The difference ?
Any swimmer will need to have some good experience in the pool before jumping into the sea. Definitely not recommended for beginners. If you have to, wear a vest to be on the safe side.
Why am I sharing this today?
The education industry is pretty crowded today.
There are many schools teaching any subjects of your desire.
As long as you want to learn, say e-Commerce, you will be spoilt for choices. There are so many guru out there.
Many claimed to have make millions. Really? I have spoken to many of them. Only a few did. The rest may have made millions, in Thai Baht perhaps.
A few of them promoted methods that worked many years ago but totally useless now. That’s wicked.
I came across a few of them who became teachers after attending course few months beforehand and made false claims. From newbie to teacher in few months, I find that appalling.
The e-Commerce scene is constantly changing. The item that was flying off the production lines a few months ago may be left to rot and rust in the shelves now.
Experience coaches will have a system to move with the changing times. Always staying afloat. Always adjusting along the way, like a plane, like a boat, always making small adjustments.
They do make mistakes, that’s for sure. And it’s their Experience that helps them recover from these mistakes fast and furious.
And yes, like a boat or a plane… Will you be comfortable if the captain of the vessel welcomes you to the vessel and proudly announced that he/she got the license yesterday and this is his/her first solo?
I know I will be changing vessels regardless of the penalty fees!
I know how to make Money. But I have only ONE Life. And I treasure this life. I hope you think likewise.
Many of us are constantly seeking to improve ourselves, improve our life, improve our relationships. This is a good thing. Don’t let a few rotten apples stop you from doing so.
We are works-in-progress, don’t change that mindset.
Each of us only have one Life and limited Time.
However, Money is not limited. Learn how to create Money from thin air.
Do not exchange your Time and Money cheaply and get into a Milking Factory disguised as an Education school.
Treasure Time over Money. Time is limited. Money is not.
Money can be made. Time cannot be made; it’s always counting down.
And oh ya, please do not be confused between “Experience” and “Age”.
I have come across a few very good successful experts who are very young. They are very talented. So, please disconnect Experience with Age.
A few of us went to the park this morning. Many jogged and walked. I skated a scooter.
