After serving my national service, my first job was a salesman for a high tech machine to the local manufacturing industries. I did well.
Few years later, a crisis happened (war in Middle East), nobody bought machines, my income dived. I got a job as a cabin crew.
After the war ended, I started a company selling high tech machines to local manufacturing industries. I did well.
Few years later, Asian Financial Crisis happened, my company folded in bankruptcy. I lost lots of money, pride, self-confidence, self-worth … etc.
I joined an MNC to become an employee. I did well … very well.
Few years later, two planes brought down some tall buildings overseas, along with that, my job disappeared.
Another crisis affected my life. And again, along with that, goes my pride, self-confidence, self-worth … etc.
I started two retail shops. Things were humming along, until a few years later, some strange virus disrupted our world (SARS). I closed the shops and lost lots of money.
And again, along with that, goes my money, pride, self-confidence, self-worth … etc.
I went to work for MNC as a salesman. I did well … very well.
A few years later, guess what ? Another crisis hit me and I sank like a stone in water. That was a nightmare.
And again, along with that, goes my pride, self-confidence, self-worth … etc.
I recovered and worked for another MNC. I did well … very well.
Employer sold the company. And everyday was a lousy day. I quit.
This time its different. Nope, I did not feel small, weak and helpless. Instead, I felt strong, powerful and liberated. I chose to quit becos I have the means to quit. My passive income exceeds my payslip.
Its unbelievable. I become taller, happier and smile more.
This crisis that is happening right now, is affecting many. Yet I am doing well.
It’s a very strange feeling, not to be negatively affected by a crisis.
I sort of gotten used to being thrashed by crisis. Crisis means “eating less, spending less” to me.
But, yet, I am doing the opposite these days. Feasting like normal. Spending as usual. And buying more assets businesses and properties.
The results from investing in local properties made me who I am today.
It gives me the power to be able to stand tall and choose my daily activities like one goes to restaurants to choose a meal (activity).
If I don’t like to meet a certain person, I can say “not now”.
If I don’t like to do a certain task now, I can say “later”.
The consistent, almost fuss-free, streams of income I am receiving everyday now, allows me to decide what do I do with my time and who I want to become.
For a huge part of my life, I help others become rich during the good times and become a victim of tough times.
During crisis, many employers will quickly ditched the team instead of down-grading his lifestyle.
Today, my assets give me the absolute power to stop being a victim. I cannot be happier. There is nothing more I would ask.
If you are struggling right now, perhaps its time for you to learn new skills to stop being a victim of crisis. Instead of another paper degree, how about e-commerce, reits, shares, forex and property-investing?
If I did not do any of the above, and remain as an employee, I believe at 55 today, everyday will be a dark day, very very dark day.
Don’t live your life this way => Crisis does not mean Life in ruins.
Learn new things, new skills to make your money work hard, new ways to create income.
Live a great life. And be an inspiration to people around you, and maybe even strangers too.
Be a person that everyone looks up to.
I have done it. My teachers and friends have done it. I can show you how. They can show you how.
Allow everyday to be a Beautiful day.
Love,
