Friends and Gears
When two strangers first work together, its common to have quarrels, squabbles and arguments.
In my childhood days, I played with tools as my toys. Screwdrivers, spanners … etc. I would pick up bottle caps, pieces of wood, metals and made into a toy. Toolbox is my happiness box.
So you can say I was brought up to think like an engineer.
And hence below is my views on relationships.
Two strangers are like two gears in a new motorcycle, car or boat.
When two new gears worked together for the first time, a portion of useless metal will be rubbed off, until they achieve the ideal shape. This is also why the experts advised to drive the new car gently.
After the gears have worn off, the oil can seep between the gaps. Now the gears can rotate at faster speed because they have the engine oil to smoothen the spins and remove the heat.
If gears are like two persons, then engine oil is like the love and bond between them.
The good oil will work better, just like good friends with strong care and bonds for each other.
Bad oil will cause more damages with each other and eventually the vehicle will have to be junk.
Our lives are similar, we need to constantly love and treasure each other. When disagreeing, we have to also look inwards at the source of our unhappiness and then deal with it. Not just focusing on what the other party did not do.
Many times, I see my students’ successes and failures.
I told them, failures are good lessons to tell us what is not working and so, please stop doing it. Just STOP IT.
Watch this clip:
If you are failing, its time to look at how the others are doing well and copy them. Yes, copy them.
Once you are successful, keep doing it. Pick up bigger challenges, overcome the road blocks and keep moving forward. Some days you can go fast. Some days its just counting steps and dragging your feet.
This way, we are always growing bigger, playing a bigger game, achieving bigger tasks.
Tell me, with this message, what can you do to improve your relationships with your partners? Thank you .
