Things I Wish Someone Has Told Me Years Ago
For many years in my life, I wished I can retire based on passive income from property rentals.
When I was growing up, I have heard so many stories about this rich man, that rich man, and yet, I don’t know who they really are and if they will even teach me. Their stories are amazing.
I listened in envy when Mom told me about the guy who sold the small supermarket to buy two HDB shops and collecting rentals of $20,000 every month.
And the auntie who stayed in Katong area who build a small house inside her landed property to rent out and collect rents.
My uncle who told me about his boss who sold the trading company and now collecting rentals from shop-houses in Chinatown.
Once, in an airport lounge, I overheard another man telling his friend that he had a building in East Coast where he resided on the highest floor and rented out the lower floors so he can travel around the world to play golf.
These stories would amaze me more than monkey god journey to the west.
Have you heard stories like that? If yes, please share with me these stories in the comments below.
I wish I had a “rich dad” like Robert Kyosaki to guide me to similar success. However, he lives in America and his book puts me to sleep.
Thus I pay lots of money and spend lots of time to attend many seminars. Many are good. Few are so-so. Did I regret? Not a single bit. Every coach has something good to share. Some even inspire. Even the worse one can light up a bulb or two. Frequently, I make good friends with fellow participants.
Today, I am fortunate enough to stop working for others and choose my own lifestyle, fueled by multiple streams of passive income from properties and businesses. The best part of my life now is that nobody can force me to do anything I don’t like.
I have shared my knowledge and experiences with thousands of people and many of them have applied the lessons and tasted the sweetness of passive income, that is safe, secure and steady. Predictable, profitable and yet passive.
Even then, I still have many people laughing at me for believing that this can be achieved. And the irony is that most of them spent time complaining about their life, bosses and the crowd in MRT.
Pay attention dear readers, we all HAVE choices >>
Change or Don’t Change.
Because I accept that “to live is to change”, now I can wake up anytime, do anything, go anywhere and being with people I love, while my money is out working hard to multiply.
IF I did not change, today I will be worried about losing my job, because I was once a travelling salesman, and no travel means no sale.
IF I did not change, it may also mean that my money is shrinking in the banks and continual withdrawal will result in red color letters arriving in my letterbox.
IF we have a chance to get together, either over a meal, coffee or attending a seminar, look me up. Let’s chat, maybe I can tell you things that you wish you were told long time ago. I would love to do that for you.
Love, Marko
